Feeling Poorly :(

Been a little bit bed ridden today, think I'm fighting something. Utterly bored I decided to give colouring the Shakira "Rabiosa" doodle. Its okay but I may have a go, when I feel a bit better, at colouring the line.

Cleaner Doodles

I liked the shakira characters so I tidied them up and added a nice line. I may colour one. I have to colour the one of them as it is a request.

Shakira Doodle

Once I had finished my project work I didn't want to stop designing characters. I drew a little sketch of a character based on Shakira and one of the fans really liked it and asked me to draw her in the same style, but based on the artwork from the new single. I liked drawing her so much I did another two sketches.

Another Catwoman Turnaround!

Heres something else I have had knocking about for a while. Jamie Peddle is using my catwoman design as a walk cycle in his showreel. She needed some tweaking however to be used in 2d animation as I had designed her as a 3d stop motion puppet.

Visuals Finished!!

I took the photographs into photoshop and tweaked bits that were not quite right. I am very happy with these images. I am happy I decided to make them in this cutout style as I feel it has given them a very unique look.

Visuals nearly done....

On Tuesday I had a session in the photographic studio to properly photograph my visuals. Properly light they look very nice and we were able to achieve the sort of moods for each individual visual that I wanted, though it did take 3 hours.

Pro Mo Image

For the promotional image I kept with the comic book idea. I wanted all the characters to be coming out of individual panels so they are coming out of the comic book as they would be if they were appearing on film. I first made a black and white composition but it was to dull and washed out. I then tried adding more and more colour until I got a very vivid final image.

Character In Situs

For the character in situs I wanted to go down the comic book route as this gives unique visual aspects such as speech bubbles to play with. The in situ backgrounds are based on photographs that have been put through photoshop filters such as colour half tone to give a dotted, 1950's comic book affect which compliments the retro designs of some of the characters. Also I tried to keep them bright as the characters are very vivid. I wanted a lot of vivid colour so they seem not of this world and also are slightly obscure like the characters themselves.

Interior backgrounds

I found these more challenging then the exterior backgrounds. I think its because I was working mostly in watercolour which is a trickier material. I used a yellowish ochre as the main plaster colour. I used purples in the shadow as it is the complimentary of yellow and so it would suit the mostly yellow and gold scene.

A stitch in time

I haven't uploaded anything from my title sequence for a while. I think this is my favourite part of my storyboard and I'm looking forward to animating it in premier. This is the section when the ghost hand is sewing.

Character Turnarounds

I have hand these done for a while and they have been so useful for character poses but I haven't had a chance to upload them yet. I am happy with them but a bit annoyed that some of them have to be so small especially considering all the colouring work and detail that went into them.
